Your Security and freedom from litigation is of upmost importance to us. It is also very important to this system as a whole, since if you can't be honest about a chatroom or server you have visited, the information we collect on your behalf and the analysis we do upon it would be irrelevant.

Legality and anonymity

When you register on Chatnannies, your details are given a unique 'user identifier' in our database. Its purpose is to allow the quickest possible method of identifying you when you log in. This is the first and last time we use that 'user identifier'.

Once you have registered, the system generates a 128bit encrypted key which it uses to identify you with our servers. It is not related in any way to your 'user identifier' and indeed there is no way for us or anyone to tally your encrypted key with a user on our site.

Hereafter, any reports or ratings you give/make to the site are indexed upon your encrypted key. Remember, this is the key only YOUR computer knows about - not our servers and not anyone else.
In effect, from our servers' viewpoint, you are anonymous.

However, because there is no correlation on our systems between your encrypted key and your 'user identifier', you are able to pass the key to our server to retrieve the information you have submitted.

What does this mean to you?

It means that:

Any reports you make to the site are utterly anonymous and untraceable to you.

You cannot be held liable for writing a report about someone acting suspiciously - besides the fact that in your opinion it might be true, no one can possibly know the origin of the report and therefore no one can be made liable.

You cannot be held liable for writing a report about a potentially dangerous or, in your opinion actually dangerous chatroom or server - besides the fact that in your opinion it might be true, no one can possibly know the origin of the report and therefore no one can be made liable.

We have produced the site like this so as to protect YOU, the ChatNannie, our most precious resource.
